Facebook roll out new ‘Edit Page’ interface

Facebook have just this morning rolled out a new interface for editing both fan pages and personal profiles. The interface is different depending on what type of page you have (e.g. Business vs Musician vs Public Figure) which may lead to further complications for artists who mistakenly set up their fan page under the wrong category to begin with.

Here’s a look at what it now looks like:

It seems like a neater and more easily navigable structure – with section headings on the left hand side and none of the annoying scrolling units which were pervasive in the last system. From an initial look at the new layout we in Amp feel it will help page admins make the most of the functionality of their pages – once they get used to it! It did take me a while to figure out where to find my Static FBML tab had gone (it’s under Applications and that’s where all of the additional tabs and functionality you have added will appear). However it is now far easier to locate the relevant section to add new page admins and create Facebook badges and buttons (this is something artists used to ask us about all the time):

In addition the ‘Page help’ section is more prominent which should encourage administrators to collaborate on problems and improve the platform overall.

All in all the new ‘Edit Page’ interface is a welcome improvement, enhancing the changes already made to ‘Page Insights

Has just been updating the FBML tab of one of my Facebook pages, definitely felt in love with the new UI. It’s more intuitive and crucial settings are quicker to access.

Don’t know how about you, but looking at the Insights is now way more satisfying for some reason 🙂
